The Thales name is associated with some of the most high-profile engineering and technology projects of recent years, developing outstanding products which are very well known in their respective markets.

Airbus A380

Already present in all of the Airbus families, Thales is a special partner to the A380.  14 Thales-designed systems now equip the world's largest commercial airliner - from cockpit visualisation systems to integrated modular avionics.

A number of major companies have also chosen Thales simulators as a tool for training their teams.

LORADS III: air traffic control in Singapore

In spring 2008, the Singapore civil aviation authorities and Thales signed the LORADS III contract, for the supply of a new air traffic control system. Equipped with the most advanced air traffic control functionalities in the world, LORADS III will provide unmatched levels of security and foster the most environmentally friendly approaches, by optimising itineraries and maximising the use of flight levels, with a concurrent reduction of operating costs.

Galileo

The aim of Galileo is to equip Europe with its own navigation system, delivering unprecedented quality of service to users in the transport, telecommunications and security sectors.

At the request of the European Union, Thales designed the overall architecture for the Galileo system, and its satellites, for the European Space Agency.  We were subsequently selected as prime contractor for the programme's Ground and Security segments, and given responsibility for satellite integration and the Galileo system as a whole.

Watchkeeper

Thanks to the Watchkeeper Programme, British forces will soon have round-the-clock surveillance capacity, in times of conflict or tension, as well as for peacekeeping operations, without having to deploy its troops in sensitive areas or dangerous situations. Watchkeeper, on which Thales is the prime contractor, is Europe's largest drone-based battlefield surveillance contract.

Electronic protection for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has chosen Thales to install an electronic protection system for its air defence.  The programme, referred to as Al-Madhallah, includes the implementation of a national centre for electronic warfare in Riyadh, plus six mobile regional centres.

Thales' role will provide training in electronic warfare to the missile battery personnel and provide the Kingdom with the means to protect its air defence batteries (Crotale, Shahine, Patriot or Hawk, for instance), by jamming the signal on enemy missiles or planes.

Bushmaster

Recently developed by Thales, in partnership with Timoney Technology Ltd, the Bushmaster infantry vehicle offers a high degree of protection and excellent handling on all terrain. Its wide range of features and modular approach make it suited to use across police, peacekeeping or troop transport activities, or as a weapons or logistics support system. Bushmaster is the mobile infantry vehicle of the Australian armed forces and is used by a number of other countries, including the Netherlands.

FREMM

The French-Italian multi-mission frigate programme (FREMM) is the largest naval programme ever launched in Europe: 27 frigates in total, including 17 for France and 10 for Italy. Thales is responsible for the design and integration of radar and combat systems. Thales is working on FREMM together with DCNS and Finmeccanica et Fincantieri.

ETCS

The European Train Control System (ETCS) is based on a digital wireless communication similar to GSM-R. Its basic function is to ensure the punctuality, security and interoperability of the trains, regardless of their operator, while increasing the capacity of traffic and safety of operations.

Thales is one of the leaders in the deployment of the ETCS standard; delivering ETCS projects in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland.

Transaction security

Over half the banks in the world and the majority of stock markets use Thales technology. We are one of the world leaders in encryption solutions and products. Providing security for critical information and communications systems for industry, banks and financial institutions, we secure high-value transactions and data preparation for card issuing.
