Thales has been present on the Australian market for many years. The Group also aims to develop its local operations in the new economic powers and emerging countries, first and foremost, China and India.
Australia
Thales (pronounced ta-lis, like Alice), is a world leader in the defence, security, aerospace and transportation markets. In Australia we specialise in designing complex systems and kit for air traffic management systems, transport systems, warships and submarines, protected military vehicles, armaments, and much more.
China
China is a key growth area for Thales combining unprecedented business opportunities with tremendous development opportunities for our people. We currently employ over 300 people and the headcount is forecasted to increase rapidly in the coming years, with operations in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Kunming and Hong Kong.
India
Thales has been active in India for more than 50 years. Thales in India currently employs over 230 employees and has several locations, with main offices in Chennai and New Delhi.
Japan
Thales has been active in Japan for 35 years. Established in 1996 as B.M. Industries, the company changed its name to ThalesLaser Co. LTD in July 2001. With 35 employees, Thales Japan is specialised around 5 activities.
Singapore
Thales Singapore employs 180 people working on a whole range of high-profile projects including LORADS III, the world's most advanced air traffic control system.
South Korea
Thales and the Samsung Group joined forces in 2000 to create Samsung Thales Co. Ltd (STC), initially to meet the needs of South Korea's armed forces. Today, the joint venture employs more than 1300 people.
