From a defence company focused on the French market, Thales has grown into a multinational engineering, systems and technology powerhouse across the globe. In the medium term, we will continue to develop our business by setting up "multidomestic locations", outside the European continent (in particular in Asia and the Middle East), as well as strengthening the civil segment of our security offer, by designing and integrating ever more complex systems.

This growth in our operations will be built in large part on Thales' ability to innovate constantly. This innovation is the result of the Group's considerable R&D effort. Each year, we dedicate nearly 20% of our turnover to R&D activities, involving nearly one in three of our people across the Group.

We offer many PhD students the chance to prepare their theses in one of our Thales Research or Business Centres - working in many and varied fields such as real-time and embedded software, hardware, signal processing, applied physics, systems architecture.
