> The Thales's research network
In order to strengthen its ties with the academic and scientific community, Thales has developed an international research laboratory, Thales Research & Technology (TRT).
A network built on multi-domestic university partnerships
The TRT laboratories are established in France, the Netherlands, the UK and Singapore. They are generally located directly on university campuses, thereby fostering partnerships with the brightest, freshest top-level researchers in the academic community.
This is true in particular with the Ecole Polytechnique (France), the University of Delft (the Netherlands) and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore). Our establishment in Reading, in the United Kingdom, has direct connection with the foremost universities in England, including Cambridge, Surrey, and Imperial College London.
Innovation that meets real business needs
Managed directly by the Group's Technology Division, TRT research programmes address the Group's operational needs, all the while ensuring that its products have market-leading, cutting-edge technology.
The network's remit is manifold: from raising scientific awareness to developing breakthrough technologies, enhancing the Group's intellectual property portfolio, attracting top-level scientists at the beginning of their careers and extending our connection to the scientific and technical community by offering a platform for innovation and knowledge-sharing.
Attractive PhD programmes for graduates
In addition to the 500 Thales employees and 100 scientists from partner institutions working there, TRT's research centres are also home to over 80 doctoral students.
Around 50 theses are financed by Thales each year, making it possible for PhD student scientists to build their future and enjoy their first job while working towards their degree.
Thales also recognises doctoral students by handing out an award, each year, to the best thesis produced in each of its three areas of activity (aerospace, defence and security).
